Tour, race or regular ride: which should I choose?
Updated
Choose Multi-day tour when a group rides day after day together, Race or event when riders go at their own pace over official stages, and Regular / group ride for the same route every week. The type can’t be changed later.
The three types
| Multi-day tour | Race or event | Regular / group ride | |
|---|---|---|---|
| For | A group riding day after day | Official stages, each rider at their own pace | The same route on set weekdays |
| Riders’ pace | The group’s, set by you | Each rider can go faster or slower than your plan | Each rider can set their own |

A one-off ride
For a single ride on one date, such as a sportive or a charity ride, create a Multi-day tour with the same start and end date and add one GPX file. If riders will go at very different speeds, use Race or event instead so each rider can set their pace.
Can I change the type later?
No. The type decides how the page works and where its link lives, so it’s fixed when the event is created. To switch, create a new event of the right type and add the routes again. You can then delete the old one, which frees its address.
