Terms of Use

Last updated 16 October 2026

These terms are the rules for using livedot (livedot.me), Windline (windline.tech, app.windline.tech and the Windline apps) and RunFast (runfast.tech and the RunFast apps). They’re one set of terms for all three, with a short section for each where they differ. When you use any of them, or make an account, you agree to these terms.

Our privacy pages, livedot privacy, Windline privacy and RunFast privacy, explain what we keep, why, and how to delete it.

The short version

  • livedot, Windline and RunFast are free for everyone, thanks to our sponsor.
  • Use your own name, keep your sign-in safe, and be 13 or older (if you’re under 18, with a parent’s or guardian’s permission).
  • Your livedot link, livedot.me/yourname, is yours to use, not to own. We control every livedot.me address, keep some names back, and can take back or reassign a handle under the rules in section 3.
  • Live tracking is for following and cheering people on. It isn’t a safety or emergency service: never rely on it in an emergency.
  • Forecasts and historic weather are estimates and can be wrong. You decide whether, when and where to ride or run.
  • What you share stays yours. Don’t share anything unlawful or abusive, don’t track anyone without their consent, and don’t scrape.
  • Cycling and running have real risks, and section 16 limits what we’re responsible for. Nothing in these terms takes away rights the law gives you that can’t be signed away.

1. Who we are

livedot, Windline and RunFast are made and run by Cross Constellation, in South Africa (“we”, “us” and “our” in these terms). How to reach us is in section 20. livedot is the family: Windline is for cycling, RunFast is for running, and livedot.me brings their live races, clubs and organisers together in one place.

To reach us, email hello@windline.tech for Windline and livedot, or hello@runfast.tech for RunFast. The help centres at windline.tech/support and runfast.tech/support have answers and a contact form.

2. Your account

You can open shared ride and run pages, follow people and see forecasts without an account. To set up events, save runs, go live or claim a livedot link, you need one.

You can delete your account yourself at any time: see how for Windline and RunFast.

3. Your livedot link (handles)

A handle is a short name that makes your follow link easy to remember: livedot.me/yourname. It’s one stable link for every race you go live in, on Windline and on RunFast. Someone who opens it sees what your follow link would show them on your public races, race by race, under the choices you make for each race. Private races never appear on it: not by name, not by date and not live. People following you on a private race use your follow link, never your livedot link.

We control handles

Names we keep back

Some names can’t be claimed, and we may add to the list at any time:

When you choose a handle, we check it as you type and tell you if it’s taken or not allowed. A name being available doesn’t mean it’s free of other people’s rights: don’t claim one that belongs to someone else.

Event and organiser names

Handles share one set of addresses with club and organiser pages (livedot.me/name). An event’s, a club’s or an organiser’s name is for that organiser, once we’ve checked they are who they say. If your handle matches one, we may ask you to choose another, and give the name to the verified organiser.

When we may refuse, take back or reassign a handle

We may refuse a handle, remove it, take it back, or give it to someone else, for:

Where we can, we’ll email you first, say why, and give you a chance to reply or choose another handle. For impersonation, an offensive name, someone’s safety or a legal claim, we may act straight away and tell you afterwards. If you think we’ve got it wrong, reply to our email and we’ll look again. Taking a handle away doesn’t by itself close your account: your races and your follow link keep working. Because a handle isn’t property, we don’t pay for one we take back or reassign (see section 16).

Changing or releasing your handle

A handle is easy to guess

A follow code is random; a handle isn’t. Anyone who knows yours can follow you on the races where your link works. To stop that on a race, change who can see you on that race. To stop it everywhere, release your handle. Resetting your follow code doesn’t change your handle.

4. Live tracking and safety

Please read this part carefully. Live tracking is for following and encouragement. It isn’t a safety, rescue or emergency service, and nobody watches it for you.

5. Weather forecasts and historic weather

Forecasts: Apple Weather and its other data sources. Historic weather contains modified Copernicus Climate Change Service information; neither the European Commission nor ECMWF is responsible for any use made of it.

6. What you share

What you add is yours: your name and photo, the photos you send us, your own words on a race, your routes and events, your club’s or organiser’s page, taps on the back, and the reports and messages you send.

Don’t share anything that’s unlawful, defamatory, hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit or violent; that infringes someone else’s rights; that gives away another person’s private information without their consent; or that’s spam, advertising we haven’t agreed to, or harmful code. Some of what you type, such as your words on a race, is checked for slurs and abuse as you type it, and we may remove or hide anything that breaks these terms or the law.

7. Reports and blocks

8. Using the services fairly

Use the services for what they’re for: planning, following and cheering on rides, runs and races. Don’t:

16. What we’re responsible for

Please read this part carefully: it limits what we’re responsible for, and asks you to accept the risks of your sport.

  • Your sport has real risks. Cycling and running can lead to serious injury or death, for example in traffic, in heat, cold, wind or storms, and on long or remote routes. Our services don’t remove or reduce those risks, on a race, a challenge such as the Windline 1000 or The RunFast 200, or any ride or run. You take part at your own risk, and you’re responsible for your own safety and your own decisions.
  • Provided as they are. We take care to make the services accurate and reliable, but we provide them free, “as is” and “as available”. We can’t promise they’ll always work, or that forecasts, ratings, timings, positions or alerts will be right, on time or complete.
  • What we aren’t liable for. As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for loss or harm that comes from: relying on a forecast, rating, timing, live position or alert; an event, or how it’s run; what other people share or do; a sponsor’s or partner’s products or services; a handle or page we take back or reassign under these terms; what happens on your account before you tell us someone else has got into it, unless it’s our fault; things outside our reasonable control, such as outages at our providers or mobile networks, or your phone’s battery, signal or GPS; or indirect loss, such as lost profits, opportunities or data.
  • The services we rely on. Some features use other companies’ services, such as Strava, Apple Weather, Google, Esri and Mapbox. As far as the law allows, and on their behalf: they give no warranties of any kind about our services, including any implied warranty that they’re of satisfactory quality (merchantable), fit for a particular purpose or don’t infringe anyone’s rights; and they aren’t liable to you for any indirect, consequential, special or punitive damages. Your own agreement with any of them, such as your Strava account, still applies.
  • A limit. Where we are liable and the law allows a limit, our total liability to you for all claims together is R1,000, or what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, if that’s more.
  • What we never limit. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for our gross negligence, fraud or deliberate wrongdoing, or for anything else the law, including the Consumer Protection Act, doesn’t let us limit or exclude.

Rights you can’t give up. Nothing in these terms takes away or limits the rights you have under South Africa’s Consumer Protection Act, POPIA or any other law that can’t be excluded by agreement, including the consumer laws of the country where you live. If a law means part of these terms can’t apply, that part applies as far as the law allows, and the rest still applies.

17. Ending your use

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes, and we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll email account holders at least 14 days before it takes effect, unless it has to happen sooner for legal or safety reasons. If you don’t agree with a change, you can stop using the services and delete your account. If you keep using them after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
