Most asked
- What do Good, Fair and Tough mean? Each day is rated on the extra effort the wind costs at your pace, side-on gusts, very strong gusts, rain, heat and cold, at the times you’ll be riding. The worst of these sets the rating, and Windline always says why.
- How do I set up an event?Sign in at app.windline.tech, choose New event, pick a multi-day tour, a race or event, or a regular or group ride, and give it a name and dates. Add your GPX files, check the start times, then Publish and share the link.
- I didn’t get my confirmation codeCheck your spam or junk folder for an email from hello@windline.tech with the subject “… is your Windline code”. Wait a minute, then choose Send a new code. Codes expire after 10 minutes, and only the newest one works.
- GPX file errors and how to fix themMost GPX problems come from exporting the wrong kind of file. Windline needs a .gpx file containing a track or route with at least two points. Export the route again as GPX from your planner, then drop the new file in.
- What’s the difference between a sponsor and an event partner?A sponsor is an outside brand that pays Windline to be seen by an event’s riders: “This event is proudly sponsored by” with a Visit button. An event partner is the event itself paying for Windline to be its official weather partner, in the event’s own logo and colours. Only Windline sets either one.
- Why does a day say “Soon” or “Forecast opens”?The day is more than about 10 days away, which is as far ahead as Apple Weather forecasts. Windline shows the date the forecast opens, 10 days before the day. Open the same link from then on and the rating appears.
- How does Windline time the forecast to my ride?Windline works out when you’ll reach each stretch of the route from the start time, the riding speed and the stop time, slowing you on climbs and speeding you up on descents. It then reads the forecast for that place at that minute.
- Do riders need an account or an app?No. Riders open the event link in any phone or computer browser and see the full forecast straight away. There’s nothing to download and nothing to sign up for. Only organisers who create events need an account.
- Can I set my own pace?On races and regular rides, yes: use Your pace at the top of the event page. Times and ratings on every day follow it. On multi-day tours the group rides together, so everyone sees the organiser’s speeds.
- How do I add GPX files to an event?Open the event in the dashboard and drop one or more .gpx files onto it, or choose them from your computer or phone. Each file becomes a day or stage on the next free date, and Windline fills in the towns and the climbing.
