Private ride or club ride? How livedot decides
Updated
When livedot makes a ride for you in ChatGPT or Claude, a ride you plan for yourself is private, just for you, in My Rides. A club ride is always for the group, on the club’s page. A tour or race is shared. If you run a club and don’t say who it’s for, livedot asks you one short question first.
The rule
livedot asks the same question the dashboard does: who’s it for?
| You ask for | livedot makes | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| A ride for yourself, such as “my ride on Sunday” | A private ride, in My Rides | Only you, and anyone you give its private link |
| A club or group ride, on a page you run | A draft group ride, shared | Nobody until you publish; then everyone, on the club’s page |
| A tour or a race | A draft, shared | Nobody until you publish; then anyone with its link |
You can always say which you want: “make it private” or “it’s for the club”.
When livedot asks
If you run a club or organiser page and don’t say who a ride is for, livedot asks one short question before it makes anything: is this a private ride for you, or a group ride for your club? Then it makes the right one.
If you don’t run a page, there’s nobody to ask about: a single ride you plan for yourself is private.
Private stays private
A private ride is never published and never on a page:
- it’s in My Rides on the dashboard, with its full forecast;
- it gets its own private link, such as ride.windline.tech/misty-otter-42, which shows the forecast with your start and finish hidden;
- livedot can’t publish it, even if asked. To share it with a group, change who it’s for on the dashboard first.
Shared starts as a draft
A shared ride, tour or race starts as a draft: only on your dashboard. It goes public only when you ask livedot to publish it and confirm, or publish it on the dashboard. See drafts are private.
