How do I follow a rider live with livedot in ChatGPT or Claude?
Updated
Ask livedot in ChatGPT or Claude where your rider is. You get where they are on the course, their speed, how they’re doing against their goal, the wind where they are and on the road ahead, and their finish time, on a live map, with Follow live to keep watching. Ask again any time for a fresh answer.
Ask where they are
With livedot in ChatGPT or Claude (search for it, or add it at https://livedot.me/mcp), ask “Where’s Thandi in the Coast Classic?” or paste their livedot link. If several riders match, pick the right one first. See finding someone with livedot.
What you get
An answer in words, and a live map in the chat with their dot on the course:
| In the answer | What it means |
|---|---|
| Where they are | Their km and mile, of the whole course, such as “km 129 (mile 80) of 161 km”. |
| Goal | Ahead of or behind their goal time, if they set one. |
| Speed | How fast they’re riding now. |
| There now | The temperature and the wind where they are: a headwind, a tailwind or side-on, and how much colder it feels at riding speed. |
| The road ahead | The next stretches, each with its wind and the time they’ll reach it, and a rating for the road ahead: Good, Fair or Tough, and why. |
| Finish | When they’ll finish at this pace, in the race’s own clock. |
| Follow live | Their live page, in any browser. If you asked by their livedot link, it opens that. |
The weather comes from the same forecast engine as Windline, so the numbers match their own app. Answers come in your units: ask for miles or kilometres any time.
Keep watching
Each answer is a snapshot: where they were when their phone last sent its position, and how long ago. Ask again for a fresh one, or tap Follow live for the live page, which keeps moving by itself. From there you can give them a tap on the back.
To cheer them on, ask livedot: “Give her a tap on the back.” Their phone buzzes, with your name if your Windline account is connected. See sending a tap with livedot.
When it can’t say where they are
It shares a position only when their live page does, and says why when it can’t:
- not started yet: it gives the start time;
- finished: their time, and how it compares with their goal;
- no signal: where they were, and when they were last heard from;
- paused, stopped, or near the start or finish, where positions stay hidden for their privacy.
Names show as first name and initial, and nothing is kept about who asked.
