How do I edit, publish or delete an event in the Android app?

Updated

Tap the event under Organising, or tap one of My Rides and then Edit. Tap a day to change its route, towns, start time or pace, and the gear for the event’s settings: route downloads, live tracking, details, dates, every-day defaults, unpublishing and deleting. Publish picks the address and gives you the link to share.

Open the editor

Under Organising, tap the event. Under My Rides, tap the ride, then Edit at the top right. After you set up a new event, its editor opens by itself.

The top shows Tour, Race or Regular / group ride, and where it stands:

  • Draft: “Draft. Only you can see it until you publish.”, with Publish.
  • Published: its link (tap it to open the page), Copy link and Share.
  • My Rides: its private link, ride.windline.tech/…, with Copy, and Share with a group.

Below are its stats (days, distance, climbing and dates), the days, Plan with historic weather, and a map with each day numbered and coloured by its rating. Pull down to refresh.

Change a day

Tap a day to change it:

  • Route: Replace GPX.
  • Towns: where it Starts in and Finishes in.
  • When: the day and the Start time, in the event’s time zone. Picking a day that already has a route swaps the two.
  • Pace: Riding speed (the average while moving) and Stop time (all stops added up), with Quick set: None, 45 min, 1 h 45 and 2 h 30.

It shows when you’ll finish as you change them, for example “Finishes about 14:04”. Tap Save. Delete day removes the day and its route.

On a race, the speed is the Starting speed: every rider can change it on the race page.

A regular or group ride

Tap the ride, or Edit ride: the Route, the Meeting point (Starts at and Finishes at), When (Every week and the days it Rides on, or Just once and its Date, then the Start time) and the Pace, with Quick set stops of None, 15 min, 30 min and 45 min. Then tap Save.

Add, reorder and sort days

  • + then Add GPX files (each file becomes a day) or Add a day. The Add GPX files box under the days does the same. See adding routes in the app.
  • Reorder: drag the days into riding order by their handles, or tap Sort by route, then Save order.
  • If the days don’t follow on from each other on the map, the app says so and offers Sort by route or Keep this order.

The event’s settings

Tap the gear at the top right. Tour settings (or Race settings, Ride settings) has, from the top:

  • Route downloads: Let riders download the route. See letting riders download it. One of My Rides has Who sees it here instead: Link sharing, and Get a new link, which stops the old one working.
  • Live tracking: see live tracking from the app.
  • Details: the Name, the Line under the title and the Time zone.
  • Dates: before you add days, when it Starts and Ends. After, Day 1 is on: changing it moves every day by the same number of days.
  • Every day: Start time, Speed and Stops. Change one and every day gets it, and so do days you add later. To give one day its own, open that day.
  • Publishing: “Live at …”, with Unpublish. Riders opening the link see “Not found” until you publish again, and the address stays reserved for you.
  • Delete: the event, its routes and its public link are gone for good. If you’re live tracking it, tracking stops first.

Route downloads, Who sees it and Live tracking save as soon as you change them. For the rest, tap Save.

Publish

On a draft, tap Publish. Choose its Address (for example tour.windline.tech/your-name); the app checks it’s free as you type. Then tap Publish.

You’re live shows the link with Copy, then Share link, WhatsApp and Image. It also says You’re following it in Riding, so you see what your riders see. Tap Done when you’ve finished. Later, Share in the editor opens the same buttons.

A ride under My Rides has Share with a group instead: it publishes the ride with its own address and moves it to Organising.

Offline

Changes made with no signal are saved on the phone (“No connection: saved on this phone, it’ll sync when you’re back online.”) and sync when you’re back online.

Everything here is the same event as on the website, so you can carry on at app.windline.tech.
