Does the Android app work without signal?
Updated
Yes, with the forecast it last saved. With no signal the app shows what it saved and how long ago it was updated, in amber when it couldn’t refresh. The evening-before alerts still arrive, changes to your own events sync later, and live tracking keeps your positions and sends them when you have signal again.
What you’ll see
- “Updated … ago” on each forecast. When the app couldn’t refresh, it turns amber: “couldn’t refresh, no signal?”.
- “No connection. Showing what was saved, if anything.” on an event the app hasn’t saved yet.
- On the widget, “no signal?” next to when it was last updated.
- In Fly the route, “Forecast updated … ago”, in amber when it couldn’t refresh.
What still works
- The evening-before alerts. Windline works them out and sets them on your phone, so they still arrive.
- The events and days you’ve opened, with their saved forecast.
- Changes to your own events. They’re saved on the phone (“No connection: saved on this phone, it’ll sync when you’re back online.”) and sync when you’re back online.
- Live tracking. Your phone keeps every position and sends them all when it has signal again. See live tracking from the app.
Tip for remote routes
Open the event and each day you’ll ride while you still have signal, ideally the evening before. The app keeps that forecast for when you’re out of range.
