How do I follow an event in the Android app?
Updated
Tap the event link your organiser shared and it opens in the app with You’re invited: tap Join. Or tap + on the Events screen, then Follow an event, paste the link and tap Find event. No account is needed. Followed events appear under Riding, with every day’s forecast, the widget and the evening-before alert.
From a link
- Tap the event link your organiser or friend shared, in WhatsApp, Gmail, Messages or anywhere else.
- With Windline installed, it opens in the app and says You’re invited.
- Tap Join tour, Join race or Follow this ride, or Not now to leave it.
A link to one day, such as tour.windline.tech/pacific-coast-tour/day-3, opens that day once you’ve joined. If you already follow the event, the link goes straight there.
No account is needed to follow an event. The events you follow are kept on this phone; sign in to keep them on your account too, on any phone and at windline.tech.
If a link opens in Chrome instead, paste it as below; it works just the same. To make links open in Windline every time, open your phone’s Settings → Apps → Windline, tap Set as default (or Open by default) and switch on Open supported links.
By pasting a link
- Copy the event link.
- On the Events screen, tap +, then Follow an event.
- Paste the link, for example
tour.windline.tech/pacific-coast-tour, and tap Find event. - The app says You’re invited. Join it as above.
The first time you follow an event, the app explains Know the wind the night before. Tap Continue, then Allow, to get the 6 pm alert.
Where it goes
Your Events screen has three sections:
- My Rides: your own rides and trips, just for you. See planning a ride just for you.
- Riding: events you follow.
- Organising: events you set up for others.
Try it first
With no events yet, tap See how it works on the Events screen to join the Pacific Coast Tour, our example, and see how a tour reads day by day. To see it again later, open Settings and tap See how Windline works.
Stop following
Press and hold the event under Riding and choose Stop following. Or open it, tap ⋮ at the top right, choose Stop following and confirm. It leaves your Riding list here and, if you’re signed in, on your other phones and at windline.tech. Its widget and alerts stop too, and you can follow it again from its link.
Next: reading a day in the app.
