How do I add the Today’s ride widget?

Updated

Press and hold an empty part of your Home Screen or Lock Screen, choose Edit, then add Windline’s Today’s ride widget. It shows the weather for your next ride, timed to when you’ll be on the road, from the event you pick or automatically.

Add it

  1. Press and hold an empty part of your Home Screen until the apps jiggle, then tap Edit and Add Widget.
  2. Search for Windline and choose Today’s ride.
  3. Pick a size and tap Add Widget.

It comes in small, medium and large for the Home Screen, and one size for the Lock Screen.

What it shows

The weather for your next ride, timed to when you’ll be on the road:

  • The day (“Today”, “Tomorrow” or a date such as “Sat 10 Oct”) and the times.
  • The rating and why.
  • The headwind or tailwind, the wind and gusts, and the temperature.
  • The wind chill at riding speed, such as “feels like 6°”, when it’s colder than the air.
  • The rain.

The large size adds boxes for wind, temperature and rain, and a strip showing the wind along the route.

Every size shows when it was last updated. After six hours without a refresh, that turns amber and says “no signal?”.

The Apple Weather mark appears on every size, because the forecast comes from Apple Weather. On the medium and large sizes, tapping it opens Apple’s page about its data sources.

Choose the event

Press and hold the widget and choose Edit Widget. Pick an event, or leave it on Automatic: that shows today’s day if you’re on a tour, and otherwise your next ride.
