How do Strava and Ride with GPS work in the iPhone app?
Updated
Two separate things. Strava’s wind on your rides adds a short note of the wind you rode in to each ride you upload; turn it on from Settings, Strava. Connected apps (Ride with GPS and Strava) let organisers bring routes into an event; manage them in Settings, Connected apps.
The wind on your Strava rides
Connect once, and every ride you upload to Strava gets a short Windline note of the wind you actually rode in: headwind, tailwind and gusts, from Apple Weather. Your followers see it too.
Open Settings and tap Strava, then follow the steps. See the wind on your Strava rides.
Strava lets Windline connect a limited number of riders until it approves Windline for everyone. The Strava row shows when there’s room.
Bringing routes into your events
When you add days to an event, you can bring routes straight in from your Ride with GPS or Strava library. See adding routes in the app.
To see or remove those connections, open Settings → Connected apps. It says who you’re connected as. Disconnect makes Windline forget the connection; routes you’ve already added stay in your events.
Are they the same connection?
Connecting Strava for routes and for the wind on your rides is the same Strava account, but each asks for what it needs. Bringing in routes doesn’t change your rides on Strava.
Windline isn’t made by Strava or Ride with GPS.
