How do I bring my routes in from Ride with GPS or Strava?

Updated

On the web dashboard, open your event and tap Ride with GPS or Strava under your days. The first time, the service asks you to allow Windline to read your routes; after that, your routes open straight away. Tick the routes you want, or a whole Ride with GPS collection for a multi-day tour, and tap Add. Each becomes a day.

One tap, then pick

  1. On the web dashboard, open your event.
  2. Under your days, tap Ride with GPS or Connect with Strava.
  3. The first time only, Ride with GPS or Strava opens a small window asking you to allow Windline to read your routes. Tap Allow. The window closes by itself.
  4. Your routes open in a list, newest first, with a search box. Tick the routes you want and tap Add.

Each route becomes a day, just like a GPX file: the route on the map, distance, climbing, and the start and finish towns. For a tour, they go in route order, each day starting where the last one finished.

After that first time, tapping Ride with GPS or Strava opens your routes straight away. A small tick on the button shows it’s connected. Your private routes are included, because you’ve allowed Windline to read them.

A whole tour at once: Ride with GPS collections

If your tour’s routes are in a Ride with GPS collection, tap the collection at the top of the list instead of ticking routes one by one. “Pont Drift Tour 2027 · 12 routes” adds all 12 days in one go.

To make one in Ride with GPS, create a collection, add each day’s route, and it appears in Windline’s list the next time you open it.

One route for a regular ride or a single day

When you set up a regular ride or change one day’s route, the same buttons let you pick one route, then tap Use this route.

Strava’s limit for now

Strava lets only 10 people connect to Windline until it approves Windline for everyone. That’s riders and organisers together. If it’s full, Windline tells you. Use Ride with GPS, or export the GPX from Strava and drop it in, for now.

Disconnecting

Go to Account, then Connected apps, and tap Disconnect. Windline forgets the connection. Routes you’ve already added stay in your events. Windline only ever reads your routes; it never changes anything in Ride with GPS or Strava.

Where to find it

On the web dashboard at app.windline.tech. The iPhone app gets it in its next update.

No account to connect? You can still paste a Ride with GPS link or drop GPX files.
