How do I get a GPX file from Strava, Komoot, Ride with GPS or Garmin?
Updated
Every big route planner can export GPX, usually from its website. In Strava, open the route and choose GPX. In Komoot, open the route and choose Download GPX file. In Ride with GPS, use Export and pick GPX. Then drop the file into Windline.
Strava
Use the Strava website: the phone app can’t export files.
- A route: open it, select the download (down arrow) icon and choose GPX.
- One of your rides: open the activity, open the More (three-dot) menu and choose Export GPX.
Step-by-step pictures are in our guide to exporting GPX from Strava.
Komoot
On komoot.com, go to your Profile, then Saved routes (or Completed activities). Open the route and choose Download GPX file. Komoot only exports routes that start in a region you’ve unlocked; it tells you which one if not.
Ride with GPS
Open the route on ridewithgps.com, choose Export, and pick the GPX option. The phone app can export too, from the route’s share options.
Garmin Connect
For a ride you’ve already done, open the activity on connect.garmin.com, open the settings (gear) menu and choose Export to GPX. Garmin Connect doesn’t offer a simple GPX export for planned courses, so if you planned the route elsewhere, export it from there instead.
Any other planner
Look for Export, Download or Share on the route, and choose GPX. If you can only get a TCX or FIT file, a free converter such as GPSBabel can turn it into GPX.
Then
Drop the .gpx file into your event. See adding GPX files.
