What does Findable by anyone do?

Findable by anyone is a switch on a race’s Live tracking card, off by default. On, anyone can find you by your name and follow you, and you’re on the race’s live map. Off, only the people you chose see you: those you approved or sent your link to, and your club’s members. Private races can’t be Findable.
Switch it on
- Open the race’s Live tracking card: in Race settings (the gear) on your own race, or Your goal and live tracking on a club race you’re riding. See going live on a race.
- Switch on Findable by anyone: “Anyone can find you by your name and follow you.”
- Tap Save.
It’s off on every race until you switch it on, and it counts for that race only.
What people see
Anyone who types at least 3 letters of your name, on windline.tech/follow, on a race’s live map, or under Live in the Windline app, finds:
- your name, as you set it on your account, never your email;
- your photo, if you added one;
- your race;
- whether you’re live now, or when you start.
They can follow you straight away, with no account, and see you on the map while you’re live: where you are, your speed and, if you set a goal, how you’re doing against it. You’re also on the race’s All riders map and on your club’s Who’s where. See finding a rider by name and your club’s race map.
Before you go live, people see only the race you made yourself Findable on.
Your name and photo
People search the name on your Windline account. Change it, or add a photo, in Account: on the web dashboard, or in the app under Settings, then your name. See changing your name and adding a profile photo.
Private races
A race that’s Just for me can’t be Findable: the switch isn’t there. People follow it only from your link, while People I approve is on, and your first and last kilometre stay hidden. See who can see you.
Switch it off
Switch off Findable by anyone (“Off: only people with your link.”) and tap Save. It acts at once: you drop out of name searches and off the race’s live maps. People who found you by name stop seeing you, unless you approved them or sent them your link, and People I approve is on.
To take someone off your followers altogether, open Live in the app and tap Remove next to them under Your followers.
The Findable by anyone switch is in the Android app now, and comes to the iPhone app in its next update. Searching for riders who are Findable works on the web and in the Android app.
