Who can see me when I’m live on a race?

You choose: People I approve (people whose request you accepted, and anyone you’ve sent your link to), My club’s members (on the club’s race map) and Findable by anyone (off by default). Switch off People I approve and your link stops showing you. Private races hide your first and last kilometre and your times. Raw positions are deleted after 7 days.
You’re only seen while you’re live on a race, and you can stop any time. Who sees you is set on the race’s Live tracking card (see going live on a race), and every change takes effect at once.
Your choices

Tick or untick My club’s members and People I approve, then tap Save. On a new race, both are ticked. In the app, Anyone with your link is ticked whenever People I approve is.
Requests
When someone asks to follow you, Windline tells you: “Thabo wants to follow you”. In the app, tap Live at the top of the Events screen. Under Your followers, they’re marked Wants to follow you: tap Accept or Decline.
Your followers
Your followers, on the Live screen, lists everyone who follows you in the app, marked With your link or Approved:
- Remove: they stop following you straight away, and their alerts stop.
- Block: they can’t follow you again. See reporting or blocking someone.
People who opened your link in a browser aren’t in the list. To cut them off, reset your link, or untick People I approve.
Reset your link
You have one link, the same for every race. On the Live screen, under Your followers, tap Reset link, then Reset. People who only had your old link stop following you, and people you approved keep following. Send the new link to the people you want.
Private races
A race that’s Just for me is private:
- it can’t be Findable, and has no share picture;
- your first and last kilometre are never shown;
- only you see your planned start, your goal and your finish estimate.
What’s kept, and for how long
- The positions your phone sends: deleted after 7 days.
- Your line, your last position and the names of who tapped you: kept 30 days, then deleted.
- After that: only a summary stays: whether you finished, your distance, your times and how many taps you got.
Positions are never used for anything else: no analytics, no advertising, and never sold. People see the name on your account, never your email. Deleting your account deletes all of it. See what Windline keeps.
Who can see you, your followers and your requests are in the Android app now, and come to the iPhone app in its next update. While People I approve is on, your link works in any browser.
